On the 18th of December 2015, the Minister for Planning, the Hon. Richard Wynne MP, called in the Deakin University application to build a bridge between its two campuses across Gardiners Creek.
Whitehorse Council was notified on the 7th of January 2016, in the shadows of Christmas, having already started the exhibition process.
The Ministers unilateral action sidelines the council and citizens exercising their rights of objection.
No explanation was given as to why the Minister has subverted the normal planning process. The Andrews Labor Government has once again ignored community concerns on important planning issues as well as undermined councils role as the responsible authority for planning decisions.
Sign the petition to fight for the future of Gardiners Creek, return the decision on the proposed Bridge back to the Whitehorse Council and the local community.
