The scourge of graffiti confronts us all around our suburban streets and its time we all did something to clean it up.

I have decided that enough is enough. Whenever graffiti is spotted we, as a community should do what is necessary to eliminate it as soon as it appears.

I have spoken to the local council’s to ascertain what remedies are available and what I, as the local Member of Parliament, can do to help in this regard. I have also been working with the previous State Government Minister for Crime Prevention to help co-ordinate the responses between local, state and community initiatives to tackle graffiti.

Graffiti marked on property without the consent of the owner is a crime punishable by up to 2 years prison and a maximum fine of more than $34,500.

If you witness someone in the process of doing graffiti or persons under the age of 18 possessing material for graffiti purposes call police on 000.
